Veterinary Technician - Emergency & ICU

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Glendale, WI is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Emergency and Critical Care department.

• You
• Will: Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients. Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters. Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers. Have patience and empathy to address client concerns. Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines. • Allowance: full-time associates receive $200/year in BluePearl store credit. Referral Bonus Program State licensure reimbursements VTNE reimbursements Additional VTS benefits – pursuing & established VTS technicians. Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
