High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification program, or senior nursing student with less than one semester left in the nursing program. For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements. Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Annual completion of training, education, and competencies for any additional duties required.
