The Medical Assistant supports providers by preparing patients for examination, taking vitals, and performing clinical tasks like blood draws and injections. They also manage patient records, handle triage, and maintain a stocked and clean clinical environment.

Located in Clifton, Colorado, the Urgent Care Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the provider in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management.

Program start dates are rolling throughout the year and available to Medical Assistant (MA) & Clinical Aide (CA) employees upon approval of supervisor. *FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES - SEE BELOW Medical Translation Spanish Certification (CHI or CMI) is valued and considered for additional compensation.

Responsibilities

Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient electronic medical record prior to appointment and confers with provider regarding incomplete tests/consults or other orders. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking vitals, heights and weights. Prepare, clean, and keep all rooms stocked Gives injections, blood draws, special tests and procedures as directed by a provider. Administers medication upon physician order and responds to medication requests per practice protocol via (fax, phone and e-script). Triages, schedules specialty tests not available in the office, and responds to patient communication within practice policy. Assists providers with patient education and self- management. Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospital, and pharmacies at all times. Performs other related work as required.

Requirements

Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment, instruments, safety hazards and precautions. Knowledge of clinical quality assurance. Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff. Ability to assist, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines in a variety of common office procedures. Ability to maintain records and record test results. Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Willing to cover at different locations when needed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Must be experienced in a physician’s office or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Requirements: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. May require working under stressful conditions.

Conditions

Normal office and exam room environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Schedule

  • 36 to 40 hours per week.
  • Hours of operation: Mon-Sun 8AM-8PM. Typical schedule is rotating. The first rotation is Monday 8 to 8, Tuesday 8-2, Saturday and Sunday 8-8, next rotation is Tuesday 2-8, Wednesday-Friday 8-8. *Make sure to submit transfer form to supervisor prior to applying to any opening to interest.
