About the role

The ER Attendant provides basic patient care and clinical assistance under the supervision of licensed nurses. Key duties include performing venipuncture, measuring vital signs, and assisting patients with mobility and feeding.

Overview Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the Emergency Room Attendant performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining EKG's, venipuncture, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, and transporting.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions 1. Perform basic patient care with minimal supervision and within established policies on all age groups 2. Accurately check and record vital signs, reports any abnormalities to licensed staff 3. Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens per policy 4. Promptly answer call lights and provide necessary assistance in a timely manner 5. Report patient changes, problems, complaints or requests to appropriate personnel 6. Assist in the maintenance of equipment and stocking of supplies 7. Aware of departmental throughput goals and actively participates in meeting these goals 8. Accurately follows direction of licensed staff with minimal guidance needed

Qualifications

Education/Licensure: Must have high school diploma or GED.Experience: No previous experience required, but preferred.Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and obtain BLS certification before the end of orientation. While no previous experience is required, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
