This position is responsible for providing individual, family and group counseling for Hospice of Cincinnati bereaved family members/caregivers as well as bereaved clients from the community.
The Bereavement counselor provides short term supportive grief counseling based upon bereaved's grief issues and concerns.
Bereavement counselors facilitate a variety of grief support groups which vary in length of time as well as issue complexity.
This position also works closely with the direct patient care team when providing counseling support to active HOC patients/family members to ensure a smooth transition to the bereavement counselor upon the HOC patient's death.
This position works closely with the community and develops, nurtures and utilizes collegial relationships with community professionals to use as a referral source for clients when grief is no longer a primary issue.
Participates in planning, coordination, implementation and management of programming activities necessary to support the mission of the Goldstein Grief Center.
This position may require travel to a client’s home and interventions prior to the death of the patient (Anticipatory Grief).
Other duties may include follow-up for bereaved who have been designated as "high risk" and other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Chaplaincy LPC, LSW, or BCC Knowledge of supportive counseling principles with children and adults Knowledge of community resources and training in grief and loss, crisis intervention, stress reduction Computer aptitude and knowledge of computerized medical records 2-3 years experience Professional Counseling, Social Work, or Chaplaincy
Must be able to work independently with 2-3 years experience in a counseling setting. Experience in a health care setting preferred.
