Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or applicable state of employment). Current CPR certification preferred or required as designated by the organization. Previous experience in a rehabilitation, skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, or healthcare setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Requirements

Administer physical therapy treatments and therapeutic exercises as directed by the Physical Therapist. Assist patients and residents in improving mobility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and functional independence. Observe, monitor, and document patient responses to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist. Accurately maintain treatment records, progress notes, and other required documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements. Educate patients, residents, families, and caregivers on prescribed exercises, safety techniques, and use of adaptive equipment. Assist with gait training, transfer training, therapeutic activities, aquatic therapy and the use of assistive devices. Ensure treatment areas, equipment, and supplies are clean, organized, and maintained in a safe condition. Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care and treatment goals. Participate in care planning meetings and team discussions as appropriate. Adhere to established infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA guidelines. Maintain current knowledge of therapy practices through continuing education and professional development. Attend required meetings, in-services, and training programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
