Job Description

The Registered Nurse Navigator – Breast Radiation Oncology serves as a dedicated guide and advocate for patients throughout their cancer care journey. This role coordinates and supports patient care across the continuum of treatment, providing education, symptom management, care coordination, and emotional support. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical oncology teams, surgeons, and other interdisciplinary caregivers, the RN Navigator helps ensure timely, patient-centered, and evidence-based care while promoting positive outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Your expertise, empathy, and dedication can help patients feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout their cancer journey.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire (additional certifications may be required based on department needs).
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex patient care, provide patient education, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Oncology nursing experience, preferably in breast cancer care, radiation oncology, infusion services, or nurse navigation.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or Nurse Navigator Certification (ONN-CG), or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Experience with care coordination, patient navigation, survivorship planning, or case management.
  • Knowledge of cancer treatment modalities, including radiation oncology and supportive care services.
  • Physical requirements
  • Continually able to see, read, and interpret information, labels, and patient documentation; assess patient needs; monitor equipment; and identify supplies and resources.
  • Frequent verbal communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, including the ability to hear and respond to patient needs, alarms, and other critical information quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, utilize electronic health records, document patient care, and perform other clinical and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move supplies, equipment, and other materials of varying weights, including heavier items when necessary.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and utilize a full range of motion while assisting patients and performing clinical duties.
  • Frequent walking throughout the clinic and care settings, including transporting supplies, equipment, and supporting patient mobility as needed.
  • Ability to push and pull carts, wheelchairs, portable equipment, and other patient-care resources.
  • Ability to safely navigate busy clinical environments with equipment, cords, and other potential obstacles.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary standing or seated position for extended periods while providing patient care, education, care coordination, and documentation activities.

Requirements
