About the role

The Dosimetrist develops optimal radiation treatment plans for patients under the supervision of a Senior Dosimetrist and Medical Physicist. This involves determining patient-specific radiation delivery techniques and performing various calculations manually or via computer.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in Radiation Therapy and two years experience; or Certified Radiation Therapist and two years related experience, or graduate from accredited university Dosimetry program and two years related experience. Job Summary: Develops treatment plans to determine the optimal radiation dose to patients under the supervision of the Senior Dosimetrist and the Medical Physicist. Job Duties: Determination of patient specific radiation delivery technique either manually or by computer to include MU setting calculations, gap calculations, off-axis calculations and chart error makeup calculations. External beam treatment planning either manually or by computer to include open beam combinations, wedged beams, rotation fields, arc fields, electron beams, and manual contour, CT based plans, 3D conformal, or IMRT. Assists with Quality Assurance of Machines and Equipment including: CT, simulators, and high energy linear accelerators. Constructs custom block templates as necessary. Assists in the preparation of immobilization and repositioning devices as needed. Performs HDR brachytherapy quality assurance as needed under the direction of the medical physicist. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

Salary Range

Actual salary commensurate with experience. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.

Requirements

Candidates must have an Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy plus two years of experience, or be a Certified Radiation Therapist with two years of related experience, or be a graduate of an accredited university Dosimetry program with two years of related experience.
