Join Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty (PCPES) you can work across our Emergency and Internal Medicine departments. This unique role offers the opportunity to utilize advanced anesthesia, emergency nursing, venipuncture, diagnostic, and procedural skills while providing exceptional care to critically ill and specialty patients.

What you'll do

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you'll provide exceptional nursing care for emergency and specialty patients while supporting advanced Internal Medicine procedures and diagnostics.

Responsibilities: include:

  • Emergency patient care
  • Triage and assess incoming emergency patients
  • Assist with emergency treatments, CPR, wound care, and stabilization
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Perform laboratory testing, blood collection, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging support
  • Administer medications and intravenous fluids
  • Assist with emergency surgeries and anesthesia
  • Provide compassionate client communication and discharge instructions
  • Internal medicine & procedural support
  • Monitor anesthesia during Internal Medicine procedures
  • Assist with endoscopy and advanced scope procedures
  • Prepare and maintain anesthesia and procedural equipment
  • Monitor anesthetic depth, vital signs, and patient recovery
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced diagnostics and treatments
  • Maintain detailed medical records and anesthesia logs
  • General responsibilities
  • Perform excellent venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Stock and organize treatment areas
  • Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment
  • Float between Emergency and Internal Medicine as patient needs require
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to provide exceptional patient care
  • Required qualifications
  • Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license
  • Minimum 1–2 years of veterinary technician experience in emergency, specialty, or general practice
  • Experience monitoring anesthesia and anesthetic recovery
  • Excellent venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement skills
  • Strong patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment
  • Comfortable floating between Emergency and Internal Medicine departments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Emergency and/or Internal Medicine
  • Experience assisting with endoscopy or other scope procedures
  • Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience
  • Experience working in a specialty or referral hospital
  • Passion for continued learning and professional development

Must hold a current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license with 1-2 years of experience in emergency or specialty practice. Proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring is required.
