About the role

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support within an Electrophysiology clinic, including managing patient vitals and medical records. They are also responsible for sterilizing instruments, maintaining inventory, and coordinating insurance authorizations and referrals.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.

Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients, and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.

Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments.

Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients.

Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.

Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.

Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.

Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties.

This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.

BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements: Associate’s degree.

Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.

Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

For OHI clinics, EMT/Paramedics meet qualifications for hire.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, basic EMR and Microsoft Office knowledge, and obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree, CMA/RMA certification, or three years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
