Responsibilities

Performs assigned duties under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. Demonstrates positive behavior and the ability to implement a plan of care. Duties require detailed knowledge of surgical instruments and prescribed procedures to provide Surgeons the appropriate sterile instruments and supplies throughout the course of surgery. Accurately completes assignments within scheduled time periods.: Assignments are accurately completed with appropriate supervisory counseling. Completes patient related activities within scheduled time periods. Able to adapt to changes in workload or patient assignments with appropriate supervision.

Communication

Communicates pertinent patient information and actual or potential problems to registered nurse throughout the shift, before breaks, during transfer and shift report. Reports timely and accurate changes in the patient's condition. Cooperates with reassignments in the interest of patient care.: Adapts work schedule to meet the needs of the unit. Ensures adequate staffing needs are met through willingness to float. Accepts changes in room assignments and/or scrub assignment. Ensures adequate staff needs by willingness to work OT. Demonstrates the ability to care for patients by providing safe, direct patient care, demonstrating knowledge and competency in completing assigned treatments and procedures according to established standards and policies.: Performs patient care duties in a safe and efficient manner. Follows plan of care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Exercises calm behavior and utilizes appropriate judgment while working in a team approach during emergency situations.: Appropriately participates during crisis situations. Isolates and removes other patients. Assists with and reassures. Stays with a patient in need. Maintains sterility of field as situation permits. Participates in the improvement processes of quality patient care.: Takes self-directed or self-motivated initiative to do more than is expected or required in the job, acts before being required to by events, to improve job performance, and/or creates new opportunities. Participates in unit/department PI activities. Provides for effective and safe patient/customer outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions.: Clinical practice accurately reflects Code of Ethics, the New Jersey Department of Health regulations, JCAHO and institutional policies and procedures and promotes professional ethics/standards. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent You must meet the NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law to be considered for this opportunity BLS is required 6 months OR experience is strongly preferred Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and a Certified Surgical Tech The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1 year surgical scrub experience which is preferred National certification is preferred Must be self-starter who works well independently Time management and prioritizing skills a must Ability to multi task If you feel the above description speaks directly to your strengths and capabilities, then please apply today! Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and a Certified Surgical Tech with a High School Diploma and BLS certification. Preference is given to candidates with at least one year of surgical scrub experience.
