About the Role

Location

Oncology-Hematology 5951 Cattleridge Avenue, Sarasota or LWRII Primary Care & Gastroenterology 11715 Rangeland Parkway Bradenton, FL 34211

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
• Experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, or insurance authorization processes.
• Familiarity with healthcare insurance plans, medical terminology, and authorization procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a health care services environment, particularly in authorization or utilization management roles in specialty.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and process authorization requests for various medical procedures and services in accordance with insurance guidelines and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and internal departments to obtain and verify necessary information for authorization approvals.
• Maintain accurate records of all authorization activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
• Monitor authorization statuses and follow up on pending requests to prevent delays in patient care.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to authorizations by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.

Skills

• In this role, required skills such as attention to detail and organizational abilities are essential for accurately processing and tracking authorization requests to ensure compliance and timely patient care.
• Communication skills are used daily to liaise with healthcare providers and insurance companies, facilitating clear and effective information exchange.
• Familiarity with healthcare software and systems enables efficient management of authorization workflows and documentation.
• Preferred skills, including knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical billing certifications, enhance the candidate's ability to navigate complex healthcare compliance requirements and improve overall process accuracy.
