Overview

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is an award-winning nonprofit, nonsectarian human services organization founded in 1943. Today, it has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community behavioral health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. WJCS delivers innovative programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the county.

We are currently seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Clinical Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide trauma-informed mental health services to individuals through the DA’s office (located in White Plains, NY), as well as members of the community seeking care through a licensed mental health clinic. Services are provided to children, adolescents, adults, and families who have experienced a wide range of traumatic events, including child and elder abuse, sexual and physical assault, domestic violence, homicide-related loss, and other forms of victimization.

Training, supervision, and ongoing professional development in providing trauma-informed intervention services for children and adults is provided by the agency.

The salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 - $85,000, determined by licensure.

Responsibilities

  • As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide trauma-informed treatment in various modalities, including individual, family, and group therapy for ongoing treatment cases.
  • Provide trauma therapy, supportive counseling, criminal justice support and other related follow-up services to crime victims.
  • Deliver services in-person, via telehealth, and by telephone.
  • Maintain a small caseload of clients who have experienced other types of non-crime trauma, including individuals affected by COVID and racial injustice, and those who are from the LGBT and undocumented communities.
  • Accompany victims to court when requested.
  • Develop Victim Impact Statements with clients.
  • Advocate on behalf of victims with healthcare providers, community organizations, schools, courts, and other service systems.
  • Research and provide information and referrals to victims.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessment and develop written treatment plan with the client (collaborative documentation).
  • Monitor and update the treatment plan and work with client to fulfill the goals of the treatment plan.
  • Complete clinical documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and agency reports accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Learn, understand, and use evidence-based practice techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Meet or exceed monthly productivity requirements.
  • Maintain necessary patient related contacts with other agencies and resources (courts, schools, etc.), via phone, correspondence or in-person visits.
  • Professionally represent the agency at community meetings and in the media.
  • Attend agency in-service trainings and staff meetings; receive supervision.
  • Consult with other members of the interdisciplinary team in a professional and collegial manner.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work, or Masters in Mental Health Counseling.
  • Possession of license to practice in New York State (LMSW or LCSW, or LMHC) issued by the New York State Education Department.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal and in written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice system and victim services.
  • Three-five years of experience counseling victims of crime, preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and principles and clinical best practices.
  • Knowledge of/skill with at least one evidence-based practice for treating adults and one for children.
  • Ability to use time effectively in order to meet or exceed monthly productivity requirements.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral systems.
  • Ability to conduct interviews to obtain social and medical information necessary to perform diagnostic evaluation.
  • Ability to observe for the purpose of analysis and treatment.
