About the role

Provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse within the Neurology Clinic. Participate in developing and implementing nursing care plans and therapeutic programs for adult patients.

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 100%25 (40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC Neurology Clinic. This position will mainly support our Neurology Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective, ensuring an innovative, effective, and personalized approach, and diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem, uncertain about their neurological condition, experiencing neurological symptoms, or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic. For over 100 years, Iowa Healthcare’s primary focus has been the health and wellness of our patients. We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Our team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care to every patient. When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records. Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients. In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.

Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification Basic Cardiac Life Support provider Special Qualification/License: Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Highly Desirable Qualifications The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.

Desirable Qualifications Previous Epic experience Previous Neurology clinic experience One year of experience as a Medical Assistant Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
