About the role

Responsible for preparing, diagnosing, and evaluating gynecological and non-gynecological specimens. This includes preparing microscopic slides, applying special stains, and providing technical assistance to pathologists.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing, diagnosing and evaluating gynecological and non gynecological specimens.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Use appropriate classifications when reviewing and diagnosing gynecological and non gynecological slides.
  • 2.
  • Provide patient side assistance to physicians and radiologists by preparing specimens.
  • Review and report diagnoses.
  • 3.
  • Prepare microscopic slides from gross specimens and stain them for optimal interpretation.
  • Apply various special stains to evaluate specimens requiring specialized treatment.
  • 4.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
  • 5.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of Supervisor.
  • Orient and train new employees.
  • 6.
  • Provides assistance to the preanatomical phase of specimen processing in the Anatomic Pathology department.
  • Performs varied duties in providing technical assistance to the Pathologist and Pathology Assistant.
  • 7.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required. CT ASCP is also required.
