About the role

Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department in collaboration with Registered Nurses for patients of all age groups. Responsibilities include collecting patient data, performing nursing interventions, and maintaining safety and security protocols.

  • PT Evenings The LPN-ED provides direct patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse to an assigned group of patients. Provides care to patients of all age groups. Nursing Care is provided in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Quality, Integrity and Stewardship that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school for licensed practical nurses required. Licensure/Certification/Registry: Possesses current licensure in the state of Illinois. Certified in CPR or completes certification during Nursing Team Onboarding Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates evidence of positive interpersonal relationships. Demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing principles and procedures. Demonstrates ability to stand/walk for extended periods and is able to lift up to 50 lbs.

I will promote healthier communities. Assists with the arrival of patients to the Emergency Department. Collects unit specific patient data including vital signs, allergies, past medical history, and current medications. Performs and documents nursing care measures to meet the physical needs of patients as directed by the registered nurse or provider. Performs and documents monitoring procedures; observes and reports the patient response. Performs basic nursing interventions with skill and confidence following institutional policies and promotes safety and sound infection control practices. Maintains safety and security of patient/family/self/others, observing safety precautions and promoting a sense of security and well-being. Works with all members of the health care team to move the patient toward established goals. Assists to support patient education throughout the patient hospital visit. Demonstrates understanding of legal implications of nursing actions. Accountable to attend educational programs to meet biannual licensing requirements. Performs other related work as required or requested. Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN school with current licensure in the state of Illinois. CPR certification is required or must be completed during onboarding.
