The Surgical First Assistant provides intraoperative surgical care under the direct supervision of a surgeon for patients of all ages. They support the continuity of perioperative care and provide direction to the perioperative team as needed.
The Surgical Technician First Assistant (SFA) will support the continuity of care for Perioperative patients. The scope of practice includes intraoperative surgical first assisting. The SFA will provide intraoperative surgical care under the direct supervision of the surgeon for all ages and/or provide direction to the perioperative team where needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of Surgical Tech experience and a current STFA certification. Completion of a Surgical Technician First Assistant Program based on AST/NIFA core curriculum and BLS certification are required.
