Job Description

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 2 years, Nursing. Nursing outpatient experience desirable. Knowledge of aseptic technique, basic wound care, patient safety and patient transport techniques.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED Knowledge of communication of patient status through recording and reporting of clinical data (i. e. vital signs, pulse oximetry, height and weight), basic medical terminology.

Physical working conditions

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise.

Position & unit accountabilities

Demonstrates Clinical Proficiency - Reports changes in patient's condition. Reports changes in patient condition to the RN or MD.

Demonstrates Competency & Safety of Patient Care - Completes duties requesting assistance as needed. Carries out responsibilities in a timely fashion, requesting assistance as needed.

Ensures Continuum of Care - Provides status report of patient. Gives verbal handoffs and patient reports to RN and other colleagues, at breaks, change of shifts and before leaving the unit.

Exercises Leadership - Notifies appropriate personnel of urgent/emergent situations. Notifies appropriate personnel of emergent/urgent situations; initiates emergency interventions (Heartsaver) as appropriate.

Maintains Documentation & Manages Information - Accurately records data. Accurately records data (i. e. vital signs, heights and weight).

EDUCATION REQUIRED High School Diploma or equivalent (G. E. D.), may include specialized or vocational courses. Additional outpatient didactic and clinical training such as obtained through completion of a corpsmen or patient care associate program, or equivalent experience.

Education preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIRED Nurse Assistant. Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant training program.
