Contractual Mental Health Therapist II (Bilingual-Spanish): Community Mental Health | Chicago, IL | Part-Time | 10-20 hours per week

Join us - and do work that matters.

We're a passionate team of change-makers, diverse thinkers, and problem-solvers. Our purpose: ensuring full access to quality living and championing the power of inclusivity. We proudly serve over 7,000 individuals with disabilities and behavioral health challenges, including those who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing.

If you're not looking for just any job — if you're ready to bring your bilingual clinical skills to a role built around flexibility and real impact — Anixter Center is the place for you.

About the Role

As a Contractual Mental Health Therapist II, you'll provide evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy to adults, youth, and families in both English and Spanish, expanding access to care for clients who need language-concordant services. You'll conduct comprehensive assessments, build individualized treatment plans, and deliver individual, family, and group therapy — all on a flexible, fee-for-service basis.

This is an ideal opportunity for a licensed clinician looking to supplement their practice, build community mental health experience, or maintain a flexible caseload without full-time commitment. You'll work a hybrid schedule with the flexibility to serve clients in-person, via telehealth, and in community-based settings.

Schedule: 10–20 hours per week, hybrid, with agency office access to meet program needs

Compensation: Fee-for-service

Reports to: Director of Community Mental Health

What You'll Do

Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy (individual, family, and group) to clients across the lifespan, including those with SMI and I/DD, in both English and a second language

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments (IM+CANS) and develop measurable, client-centered treatment plans

Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with Rule 132/140, Medicaid, HIPAA, and agency standards

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (schools, medical providers, child welfare, courts) to coordinate care

Participate in regular clinical supervision and pursue ongoing professional development

Engage clients proactively — reminder calls, outreach, and motivational interviewing to reduce no-shows and support treatment completion

Provide services through multiple modalities — in-person, telehealth, and community-based settings — to meet clients where they are

What You Bring

Language & Licensure

Bilingual proficiency required (English plus Spanish) to serve clients needing language-concordant care

Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Art Therapy, or a related field

Full clinical licensure as an LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist strongly preferred; license must be in good standing with IDFPR

  • Experience
  • 2+ years of clinical experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and/or families
  • Experience conducting clinical assessments and developing treatment plans in a behavioral health setting
  • Experience with trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions (CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, MI)
  • Experience with EHR documentation, ideally in a Medicaid-funded or community mental health setting
  • Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with Illinois Medicaid community mental health requirements (Rule 132/140) and DSM-5-TR
  • Understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and mandated reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, telehealth platforms, and EHR systems (e.g., AWARDS)
