Job Status

• FULL TIME/EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT SUMMARY: Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy services to patients served by this agency that have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Responsibilities to Patients ➢ Assists patients in restoring health, alleviating pain, and assessing impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. ➢ Transfers patients according to positioning requirements ➢ Instructs, motivates, safeguards and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities ➢ Provides accurate and appropriate information to the supervising PT regarding the progress, goals and any changes to residents/patients/clients condition or function. ➢ Promotes prevention, health, wellness, and fitness. ➢ Interacts and practices in collaboration with the patient, family, HBSI team, other healthcare professionals and staff. ➢ Follows the direction and supervision of the supervising physical therapist according to the APTA and Montana Physical Therapy Practice Guidelines. ➢ Cleans and maintains equipment in good working order ➢ Follows infection control policies ➢ Attends all appropriate meetings ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Record Keeping ➢ Completes and maintains necessary records ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Safety ➢ Follows safety policies of St. John's United and HBSI ➢ Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards ➢ Attends mandatory safety in-services ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Mission/Customer Service ➢ Follows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service

• Be gracious to each & every person ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee Responsibilities ➢ Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing. ➢ Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations. ➢ Attends all mandatory in-services. ➢ Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Home Health and Hospice.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Must be a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Montana preferably with one to two years related experience. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: ➢ Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions ➢ Possesses organizational skills or the ability to follow a systematic method of performing tasks. ➢ Ability to convince individuals or a group of people to work toward a goal. ➢ Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely. ➢ Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems. ➢ Ability to adapt to change in the workplace. ➢ Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. ➢ Ability to take care of patient needs while following company procedures. ➢ Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decisions. ➢ Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: ➢ Requires moderate physical work more than 50% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: ➢ Work involves some exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. ➢ Normal health care environment. ➢ Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the patients’ home environments.
