The CRNA is responsible for preoperative assessments and the administration and evaluation of anesthetic agents before, during, and after procedures. They ensure safe patient emergence and perform supplemental anesthesia duties under the direction of an anesthesiologist.

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist completes preoperative patient assessments and prepares and maintains necessary tools and resources for procedures. Responsible for evaluation of anesthetic agents used for patients before, during, and after procedures. Actively observe and assess patients throughout the course of procedures and ensures safe patient emergence from anesthetic. Performs supplemental anesthesia duties in situations as needed and directed by anesthesiologist. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing or anesthesia school and hold an APN license and certifications in BLS and ACLS. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a staff nurse and certification by the AANA or an accredited CRNA program is required.
