The UM Coordinator manages insurance certification and recertification by communicating with external case managers and managed care organizations. They collaborate with the treatment team to ensure insurance requirements are met for continued patient stay and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

  • Job Summary: The UM Coordinator contacts external case managers/managed care organizations for certification and recertification of insurance benefits throughout the patient’s stay, and assists the treatment team in understanding the insurance company’s requirements for continued stay and discharge planning.
  • The UM Coordinator is responsible for having a thorough understanding of the patient’s treatment through communication with the treatment team.
  • The UM Coordinator advocates for the patient’s access to services during treatment team meetings and through individual physician contact

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s prepared healthcare professional (Counseling, Psychology or Social Work) required. Master’s preferred. A minimum of two (2) years experience in a healthcare setting or managed care company, Pscyh Hospital experience preferred. Must have or be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card. Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work is required, with a master's degree preferred. Candidates must have at least two years of healthcare or managed care experience and be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
