About the role

The Medical Records Technician manages incoming and outgoing medical record transfers and ensures accurate data entry into EMR systems. They are responsible for retrieving, filing, and distributing patient charts while handling inquiries from authorized parties.

This position is full-time, working 32-hours per week. It will be full-time benefit eligible.

Job Summary At Prevea Health the Medical Records Technician is responsible for recording all incoming and outgoing medical record transfers, obtaining appropriate record release authorizations, reproducing legally requested medical information, and forwarding the medical information to the requesting parties.

This position performs accurate data entry.

This position also keeps and locates historical medical records of current and past patients.

These charts document the patients' health care and serve as reference to the doctors when treating patients and/or nurses.

This position handles all of the above for all of the Prevea locations.

What you will do

Entering data in EPIC and other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

Destroying paper charts.

Retrieving, re-filing, and rerouting patient charts from assigned locations, as well as filing appropriate documents and pulling charts for departments upon request.

Handle medical records inquiries via phone and assist in preparing and distributing patient information to authorized parties.

Send faxes and record information in EPIC for continuity of care

Float to other Central file sites or Scanning as needed.

Possess skills to effectively problem solve.

Basic knowledge of Medical Records filing system

Knowledge of alphabet/terminal digit filing.

Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.

Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.

Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.

Proficient in the use of computer, phone, and office equipment.

Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required for this position. Candidates must possess basic knowledge of medical records filing systems and the ability to work effectively under stressful situations.
