About the role

Provide full-spectrum orthopedic trauma services, including performing surgeries during dedicated weekly OR block time and managing patient consults and clinics. Participate in a 24-hour orthopedic trauma coverage rotation with a 30-minute response time from home.

Benefis Health System, a large level II trauma center and regional tertiary referral center in Great Falls, Montana, is seeking a full time Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join our dedicated team of 8 orthopedic surgeons and 6 surgical advanced practice providers in a hospital employed orthopedic practice.

Position Details

  • Opportunity for an orthopedic trauma surgeon to join our current orthopedic trauma team (currently 2 MD, 2 APPs) offering full spectrum orthopedic trauma services at one location shared between 3 physicians
  • Stable, long term orthopedic group includes trauma, total joint revisionists, spine, shoulder, sports med, hand and generalists, + mid-level support
  • 10 main ORs + onsite ASC, 2 Davinci robots with O-arm and Hana table
  • 33 bed emergency department with 3 large trauma bays, CT scan staffed 24/7 and 2 board-certified ER physicians on shift at all hours
  • In house air ambulance program with fixed wing and rotor wing for inbound and outbound transport
  • Dedicated ICU intensivists 24/7 in 21 bed mixed-ICU
  • Robust hospitalist team, including swing and night shift admitters

General Schedule

0.9 FTE physician opportunity averaging 10 shifts/month

Rotation between 3 physicians mutually agreed upon for 24-hour orthopedic trauma coverage with dedicated advanced practice support

Duties include consults, clinic and dedicated OR trauma block time every week day starting at 12 pm and call response time is 30 minutes from home, in house not required

Must be a qualified Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon capable of working in a Level II Trauma Center. Requires the ability to manage a high-volume surgical load and collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team.
