Work Schedule Requirement (Mandatory – Graduate Nurse Residency Program)
During floor orientation, the graduate nurse’s schedule will mirror the assigned preceptor’s schedule, including shift times and weekends. Schedule flexibility is required during this period to ensure successful clinical integration and competency development.
Upon successful completion of floor orientation, the graduate nurse will transition to a monthly self-scheduling process. However, final schedules remain subject to departmental staffing needs, and shifts may be adjusted accordingly.
The above schedule requirements are mandatory conditions of employment and are essential components of the Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Applicants must be able to meet and maintain these scheduling expectations.
All New Graduate Nurses are required to actively participate in the Nurse Residency Program. This structured program is designed to support your professional growth throughout your first year of practice by strengthening clinical competency, building confidence, promoting autonomy, and fostering overall empowerment as a new nurse.
During your initial 8-week orientation period, you will attend a residency class once per week. Following orientation, you will continue participating in monthly residency sessions for the next 9 months.
Participation in all residency sessions is mandatory and considered a condition of employment for all new graduate nurses.
