Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) to join our Inspires team in Mercer County.

As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you will use your own lived experience in recovery to inspire hope, provide encouragement, and empower individuals living with substance use disorders. Working within a person-centered recovery plan, you will help individuals build meaningful connections, navigate resources, and develop the skills needed to achieve and maintain lasting recovery. Services extend beyond the clinical setting and focus on supporting individuals within their homes and communities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Lived experience in recovery from a substance use disorder
  • Minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety
  • State or nationally recognized Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification or training as required by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services (DoHS)
  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills
  • Passion for helping others achieve and sustain recovery
