  • CareSummary: The Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) Nurse is a specialized nursing role dedicated to supporting patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Working collaboratively with and under the clinical oversight of a NOHN provider, the OBAT Nurse conducts patient assessments, care coordination, treatment monitoring, and follow-up visits. This role is integral to promoting patient engagement, supporting recovery goals, and providing compassionate, evidence-based care throughout each individual's recovery journey. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

NOHN's Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) Nurse Care Managers (NCM) provide specialized care to people with substance use disorders (SUD). OBAT NCMs use active listening, motivational interviewing, empathy and compassion for humans seeking medications for SUD and support them in their recovery providing individualized care with evidence base practice including harm reduction. OBAT NCMs have a daily patient schedule seeing up to 11 patients a day. Trust, dependability, and a healthy sense of boundaries are valued in this role for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. During these visits NCMs practice at a high level of their licensure, evaluating and making treatment recommendations for patients with physician/advanced practice clinician oversight and support. Communication skills, initiative, dependability, and trust are valued skills in this partnership with providers. OBAT NCMs must be self-motivated for continuing education to provide quality care for our patients and to provide SUD education, outreach and support to community partners. The OBAT NCMs also work within the community to provide SUD education, outreach and support. We also value supporting other NOHN nursing team members as needed. Operational Excellence Works within the LEAN methodology Relationship Management Develops and maintains collaborative interpersonal relationships with staff, providers and leadership. Develops and maintains collaborative interpersonal relationships with community agencies, medical clinics, hospitals, etc. QualificationsQualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.

Experience

Current, active WA State Registered Nurse license required. Certified Basic Life Support required. Work in addiction treatment or supporting patients experiencing Substance Use Disorder.

Skills

Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems, Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval, excellent verbal and written communication skills, Demonstrate a high level of skill at building relationships and customer service. Demonstrate influential skills in managing difficult clients and patients. Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of medicine and associate charting requirements. Requisite skills and ability to perform certain medical tasks as assigned. Demonstrate a high level of problem-solving skills to better serve patients and staff. Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, cultural sensitivity. Ability to implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes. Uphold the mission and values of the organization. Create and maintain a positive culture.

Written and spoken English required.

Physical

Demands: Will require prolonged standing and sitting in front of a computer. Normal accessibility and mobility required.

Requirements

Requires a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing with a current WA State Registered Nurse license and BLS certification. Experience in addiction treatment and proficiency in EHR systems are essential.
