The OB Surgical Technician assists physicians and nursing staff by preparing the OR and acting as a surgical scrub during Cesarean sections. They are also responsible for maintaining sterile equipment, managing supplies, and providing basic patient care in the Labor and Delivery setting.
The OB Surgical Technician assists the OB/GYN physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives, and RNs in both clinical and clerical duties. The OB Surgical techs perform selected patient care tasks within the Labor and Delivery setting under the supervision of nursing including but not limited to preparing patients and equipment for special obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting the obstetrical surgical team as a scrub during Cesarean Sections and other surgical procedures in Labor and Delivery, maintaining surgical and other equipment and ensuring adequate supply levels for the Labor and Delivery OR at all times.
Work Experience Licensure/Certification/Registration Basic Life Support - Health Care Provide (BLS-HCP) Surgical Technologist Certification Education/Knowledge Attained Level: High School Graduate or GED Program required; Associates degree and/or job specific work experience preferred.
