Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of CT techniques, procedures, equipment operation, anatomy, and departmental policies necessary for job performance. Operates CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images by selecting appropriate protocols and technical factors based on patient age, physical condition, and clinical presentation. Provides CT imaging coverage for emergency room and inpatient populations. Positions geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and infant patients appropriately for assigned procedures and reviews image quality to ensure diagnostic accuracy, performing additional scans as necessary. Verifies patient identifiers, procedure orders, and other pertinent information; obtains required documentation, including patient questionnaires and informed consent when applicable. Performs venipuncture and injection of contrast material as required. Completes all required documentation, post-processing, image archiving, and exam-related paperwork accurately and timely. Assists patients and answers questions regarding department procedures. Participates in departmental quality-improvement processes and performs assigned quality-control measures. Follows radiation protection procedures for oneself and patients. Maintains CT equipment according to established guidelines and maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.

Qualifications

Minimum of High school or GED equivalent required. Work requires completion of an AMA approved program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent which is required in a two year college or technical school program. ARRT certified with current registration required. BLS CPR certification required. Minimum of 1 year experience as a CT Technologist is required.
