About the Role

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within a wound care center setting.

This position is responsible for managing and providing comprehensive wound care treatments, ensuring patient comfort, and promoting optimal healing outcomes.

The LVN collaborates closely with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Additionally, the role involves monitoring patient progress, documenting clinical information accurately, and educating patients and their families on wound care management.

Ultimately, the LVN contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the wound care center by maintaining a safe, compassionate, and organized clinical environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited vocational nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience or training in wound care management.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and clinical documentation standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Wound Care (e.g., Wound Care Certified - WCC).
  • Experience working specifically in a wound care center or similar clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy or diabetic wound care.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wound assessments and document findings accurately in patient records.
  • Administer wound care treatments including dressing changes, debridement, and application of prescribed therapies.
  • Monitor patients for signs of infection or complications and report changes promptly to the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain wound care supplies and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans.
  • Assist in scheduling patient appointments and coordinating follow-up care.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.
