About the Role

Minimum Qualifications

• Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
• Completion of an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated experience or training in wound care management.
• Strong knowledge of infection control practices and clinical documentation standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Wound Care (e.g., Wound Care Certified - WCC).
• Experience working specifically in a wound care center or similar clinical environment.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Additional certifications such as IV therapy or diabetic wound care.
• Strong communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform wound assessments and document findings accurately in patient records.
• Administer wound care treatments including dressing changes, debridement, and application of prescribed therapies.
• Monitor patients for signs of infection or complications and report changes promptly to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and post-treatment care.
• Maintain wound care supplies and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans.
• Assist in scheduling patient appointments and coordinating follow-up care.
• Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.

• The required skill of wound care center management is applied daily through the assessment, treatment, and monitoring of patients with various types of wounds, ensuring adherence to best practices and clinical guidelines.
• The LVN uses clinical judgment and technical skills to perform wound care procedures safely and effectively, while also educating patients to promote healing and prevent complications.
• Preferred skills such as certification in wound care and experience with EMR systems enhance the nurse's ability to deliver specialized care and maintain accurate patient records efficiently.
