The Lab Assistant is responsible for receiving and accessioning patient specimens into the Laboratory Information System and supporting various laboratory departments. They also maintain equipment, perform quality control documentation, and handle hazardous waste according to safety procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required. Relevant laboratory, accessioning, healthcare, specimen processing, or related work experience preferred. Prior experience in a clinical laboratory, pathology laboratory, accessioning, specimen processing, histology, cytology, or healthcare support role is preferred. Ability to accurately enter and verify information in laboratory systems. Ability to follow written procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Experience requirements may be determined based on department need, prior relevant work experience, and demonstrated competency.
