What You Should Know About the Radiologic Technologist

  • Typical Hours vary with position (i.e. 12 hour shifts rotating days or 8 hours days Monday through Friday)
  • All positions require call 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to include weekends and holiday.
  • This position is based within Jefferson Regional Radiology Department

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic radiographs and related procedures at a technical level by utilizing the appropriate equipment to perform high quality imaging. This position is also responsible for following established standards and procedures, and reviewing images to determining necessary adjustment for optimum results. The Radiologic Technologist will participate in Quality Improvement work groups.

Radiologic Technologist Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical Diploma in Radiologic Technology or Associate Degree in applied science in radiography or other related field required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Radiography or related field preferred.
  • Graduate for an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Arkansas Department of Health Radiologic Technologist Licensure required.
  • BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
  • Minimum Requirements 1. Must be knowledgeable in, medical terminology, and possess generalized skills in medical imaging, general and other special procedures that are performed within the department. 2. Strong patient care and communication skills 3. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory standards. 4. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images 5. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team 6. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations. (Thirty-minute response time for callback.)
  • Preferred Requirements 1. Minimum of one year (1) experience as a staff technologist or tech extern a plus. 2. Three years (3) Clinical Experience preferred 3. Proficiency and expertise in Radiologic equipment and operation preferred

Requirements

Requires a technical diploma or associate degree in radiography, ARRT registration, and Arkansas state licensure. BLS/CPR certification is required, and candidates must be able to handle on-call rotations.
