The assistant greets and prepares patients for examinations while assisting physicians during treatments and testing. They also manage patient inquiries, coordinate referrals, and maintain a sterile, stocked clinical environment.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician's examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications, and treatment instructions as directed by the physician. Arranges hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients. Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies. Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Graduate from a program for Medical Assisting, Licensed Practical Nursing, or Certified Ophthalmic Assisting preferred.
One year experience preferred.
