FT Direct Support Professional (DSP) Annual Salary

  • $37,799-$40,091 (based on assigned program and shift)

  • Differential: Earn an additional $2.50 per hour for eligible evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Make a Difference Every Day Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking compassionate and dependable Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to adults in our residential and community-based programs. As a DSP, you'll help individuals build independence, achieve personal goals, and live meaningful lives within their communities. Whether supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), mental illness, or substance use disorders, you'll play an important role in promoting dignity, choice, and recovery. What You'll Do Provide direct care and assistance with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication support, and household routines. Encourage independence by helping individuals develop life skills, participate in community activities, and achieve their personal goals. Follow individualized service plans, monitor individuals' well-being, and complete accurate documentation. Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment while collaborating with supervisors and the interdisciplinary team. Programs You'll Support Our Direct Support Professionals may work in one or more of the following adult service programs: Residential Services for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF). Adult Mental Health Residential Programs and Residential Substance Use Treatment Programs. Community-based programs that promote independence, recovery, and community inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

At least one (1) year of experience providing direct care or support to adults with IDD, mental illness, substance use disorders, or in a behavioral health, healthcare, or human services setting. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to person-centered care.
