Who We're Looking For We're seeking a passionate and resourceful Shelter Housing Specialist to join our team and serve as a critical bridge between families experiencing homelessness and the stable housing they deserve. This isn't just a desk job — it's a chance to walk alongside families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives and help guide them toward a fresh start. You'll be a connector, an advocate, a coach, and a problem-solver — all rolled into one. What You'll Actually Be Doing Coach & Empower — Work one-on-one with families in our Emergency Shelter program to build personalized, goal-driven housing plans they actually believe in Open Doors — Build and maintain relationships with landlords and property owners across the community, expanding housing options for the families we serve Inspect & Protect — Conduct HQS inspections to ensure every unit meets HUD standards and that families are moving into safe, quality homes Navigate the Process — Guide clients through rental applications, leases, tenant rights, and everything in between so no paperwork stands between a family and their new home Advocate Loudly — Speak up for families facing unsafe or neglected housing conditions and hold property owners accountable Document with Purpose — Maintain accurate case notes, HMIS data, and client files that tell the full story of each family's journey Collaborate Constantly — Partner with case managers, shelter staff, and outside agencies to ensure no family falls through the cracks You'll Thrive in This Role If You... Meet people where they are — without judgment. Understand the deep impacts of trauma and approach your work with compassion and patience. Are a natural relationship-builder who can connect with everyone from a nervous client to a skeptical landlord. Stay organized and cool under pressure. Believe in the power of boundaries, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Are comfortable behind the wheel and out in the community as much as you are at your desk What You Bring to the Table Associate degree in a related field (Bachelor's in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field is a plus!) 1-2 years of experience working with families facing housing instability or homelessness (preferred) Proficiency with Office 365 and reporting/data software Valid driver's license and ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements A genuine commitment to equity, dignity, and human potential The Environment You'll Work In No two days look the same here. You'll move between our shelter facility, client homes, schools, community spaces, and your desk — meeting families and partners wherever the work takes you. Our shelter community includes individuals of all ages, from infants to adults, and every interaction is an opportunity to make an impact.

Hours

Generally Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional flexibility for evening or weekend needs.
