Responsibilities

In this role, you will

Provide relevant Substance Abuse information for class curriculum Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required Participate in related training for substance abuse

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field and one (1) year clinical experience in a health or human service agency, OR An Associate Degree form an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or related field and two (2) years clinical experience in health or human service agency.
  • Knowledge of the field of addictions or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Required skills include: time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as requested by supervisor.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Physical Requirements In this position, you will frequently have to lift or carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Candidates should also be able to bend, stoop, walk, and stand (31-60% of the time).
  • You will also occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree with one year of clinical experience or an Associate degree with two years of clinical experience in a related human services field. Knowledge of addictions or mental health counseling is preferred.
