About the role

The Nurse Clinician II provides comprehensive nursing care for patients in a Head and Neck Surgical Oncology clinic, including assisting in minor procedures and post-op management. They are responsible for independently assessing patients, implementing care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Qualifications

RN with six months of clinical RN experience and/or successful completion of probationary NC I period documented on nursing e-performance evaluation tool. Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse license or valid permit to practice in Texas. Current BLS required. Job Summary: Competent Clinician. Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to meet nursing standards for professional practice specified in Texas Nurse Practice Act without supervision. Recognizes when assistance is needed and seeks appropriate resources. Practice is characterized by a balance of independent decision making. Focus is on expanding knowledge and skills for specialty area. Provides patient care through nursing based practices upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance. Values specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goals This role will primarily support a Head and Neck Surgical Oncology clinic. Strong attention to detail is required. Nursing may assist in minor procedures in the clinic as well as Nurse Visits for post op care management. Collaboration with multidisciplinary services including, ENT nurse Navigator, Surgical Scheduling, Speech Pathology and Social Work.

Job Duties

Proficiently and independently assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the daily care of assigned patients Proficiently identifies patient care needs, formulates appropriate nursing diagnoses, develops and individualizes care plan, and revises plan of care as needed Proficiently executes physician's orders for all assigned patients. Administers medications and treatments and delivers culturally congruent and specialty appropriate competent nursing care in accordance with UTMB's policies, procedures, and standards in a caring and compassionate manner Proficiently and independently performs routine and complex technical procedures/skills in assigned specialty area

Salary Range

Actual salary commensurate with experience. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Requirements

Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with a valid Texas license, current BLS certification, and at least six months of clinical experience. Proficiency in executing physician orders and performing complex technical nursing skills is required.
