Relief Counselors are Casual Agreement Employees who work as needed in BAMSI’s residential and day services. Hours and locations may vary week to week depending on business needs.
Provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE), fostering skills for daily living and community integration. Key responsibilities include:
Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.re.
Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
Benefits. Relief Counselors are eligible to participate in the BAMSI 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan and any other legally required programs that may have service requirements or other eligibility requirements for participation, such as the Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law, M.G. L. c. 149 , §148C and its accompanying regulations 940 CMR 33.00.
High school diploma/GED; mental health experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.).
Strong communication skills (English) and basic computer proficiency.
Compassion, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
Bonus: Lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).
Varies 16 hours minimum a month
