Practice for this role

About the role

The RN is responsible for facilitating and collaborating with the healthcare team to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients in a blended medical unit. Duties include assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and performing various therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.

Where You’ll Work St. Anthony Summit Hospital is a Level III trauma center serviced by Flight For Life Colorado. We are nationally recognized as a multiple-time recipient of the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience, and we were named a Top 100 Hospital in the U.S. by IBM Watson Health in 2018. We also are a Pathway to Excellence-designated hospital, recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as being one of the best hospitals for nurses to work. We provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Summit County and the surrounding region, including surgical, emergency/trauma, critical care, birth center, orthopedics, breast care, digital mammography, breast MRI, radiology and imaging, infusion therapy, nuclear medicine, cardiology, oncology, Summit Sleep Disorders Center, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), gastroenterology and Total Joint Replacement. We proudly provide convenient care where you live, work and play - that's why visitors and residents alike can count on us for emergent and urgent medical services. In addition to 24/7, Level III emergency care at St. Anthony-Summit Hospital in Frisco, we have three emergency mountain clinics at the base of the Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Keystone resorts, as well as urgent care and primary care available from CMG High Country Healthcare clinics in Frisco, Breckenridge and Silverthorne. Job Summary and Responsibilities The General Medical department at St. Anthony Summit Hospital is a 16-to 26-bed blended unit meeting the daily challenges of caring for patients with a wide array of medical conditions. Our department specializes in ICU, intermediate care, medical surgical and pediatrics. The average length of stay is 1.2 days, so patients turnover quickly on this unit. Most patients are tourists and are dealing with the stress of injury while on vacation. We all have a variety of duties and wear multiple hats because we are a small hospital. We treat a wide variety of patients and are the only inpatient department in the hospital, so all patients come to this floor. We sometimes receive overflow for LDRP and we take care of postpartum moms and babies. Our team has an amazing culture of teamwork and receives, high patient satisfaction scores. Census changes rapidly on the floor if ICU patients come in, so we are flexible. We work with limited resources, no transporters and no IV team. As our RN, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient, advancing modern nursing through compassionate care. Every day you will promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrating personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission. To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively within a supportive, mission-driven environment. Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data. Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome. Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records. Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner. Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making. Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient. Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability. Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching. *External RN's are eligible for a $6k Seasonal Incentive. PRN not eligible

Colorado nursing roles favor experienced RNs

Colorado nursing roles like this often draw steady demand from home health and hospice settings, where employers look for RNs who can work independently and manage patient care in the field. These positions are competitive because a current Colorado RN license, prior nursing experience, reliable transportation, and familiarity with HCHB can all strengthen an application. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits here to save time, then confirm your license, driving documents, and home health or hospice experience before applying.
