Job Summary:
Responsible for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication, and documentation of patient cardiac rhythms and rhythm components via electronic systems.
Responsible for notifying appropriate staff of variance and alarms according to departmental policy.
Documents patient data in a timely manner according to departmental standards.
Monitored patients are not limited to a maximum number or specific age group.
Performs job duties directly on a nursing unit or remotely in a central unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Primary Duties: 1.
Monitors patients using electronic systems.
Analyzes cardiac rhythm and records measurements, calculations, and interpretation of patient records in accordance with established protocols.

Monitors and reviews patient information to determine baseline cardiac rhythm and prior variances.
Abnormal clinical signs, variances and alarms are recognized immediately according to established departmental criteria.
3.
Notifies Registered Nurse of cardiac rhythm or rhythm component variance and alarms.
4.
Patient data is documented in a timely, accurate and complete manner according to departmental standards.
Assembles and maintains patient telemetry record for admission to discharge.
5.
Maintains all telemetry equipment and telemetry supplies inventory.
6.
Orients and trains new staff and students.
7.
Performs other duties as assigned.
