Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU

Neonatal Critical Care Nurse

The NICU RNCC is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment and modalities, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Registered Nurse (RN) is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients and functions within the policies and procedures of the department, the hospital, and the legal framework of the State of Tennessee.

NICU RN Roles and Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
  • Provide respiratory, and ventilator management, and monitoring for patients.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of your healthcare team.
  • Provide care for infants immediately after birth.
  • Consult with parents/guardians on aftercare and long-term health management for infants.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN Degree Program
  • 2 years minimum of NICU experience
  • Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. ACLS, NRP, CPI and STABLE required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • PALS and NRR certification
