Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with hospital policy/procedure and with departmental, area and national standards.
Ensures a safe supportive environment for staff, medical staff, and patients.
Participates in thorough orientation of employees, in-service education, and staff development to maximize productivity and minimize turnover.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with all staff regarding departmental operation, practices, medical and patient care issues.
Responsible for attendance and punctuality to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations of the department. Uses budgeted supplies and equipment judiciously.
Assumes responsibility for keeping current with department organizational trends and customer needs through active participation in activities designed to enhance skills, professional and personal growth.
Demonstrates computer skills which include accessing various computer programs and correctly inputting data into the appropriate program.
Treats all patients equally in accordance with Patient Rights.
Acts on behalf of the patient advocate.
Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
Obtains consent and ensures consent form was signed, and that the patient understands the procedure. Performs pre-procedural teaching
Ensure that all equipment is set up according to the provider’s preference card and functions properly prior to procedure.
Able to set up and maintain sterile fields.
Monitor patient during the procedure while assisting the physician.
Administer conscious or moderate sedation under direction of the provider as needed.
Assess patients post procedure. Discharging patient when alert, stable, meets MSH discharge protocol, and after completion of discharge instructions and education
Clean and disinfect equipment after each procedure. Restock and reorder supplies as needed.
Follow proper procedures regarding radiation exposure and exposure to Category I tasks.
Follow proper procedures for handling and storing hazardous waste materials.
Conduct pre- procedural and follow-up phone calls with patients and document on appropriate e-form.
Delegates tasks as needed to LPNs, CNAs or technicians by Team Lead direction,
Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas BLS certification ACLS Certification within 3 months of date of hire Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day. Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis. Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis. Qualifications
Candidates must be a Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas with BLS certification and ACLS certification within three months of hire. Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/push over 20-25 pounds is required.
