About the role

The LPN provides clinical support to providers and residents through patient assessments, vital signs, and procedures like phlebotomy and EKGs. They are also responsible for maintaining exam room readiness, managing supplies, and delivering patient education.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the direct supervision and delegation of a physician and supports providers, residents, medical students, and clinical staff through a team-based approach to patient care.

This role performs clinical tasks within the LPN scope of practice, including patient assessment, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and preparation of patients for evaluation.

The LPN provides patient education to help individuals fully understand and benefit from available care services and may work within a designated specialty or cross-cover multiple clinical areas.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining exam room readiness, managing supplies, documenting clinical information, and ensuring patient safety in accordance with emergency clinical policies and protocols.

The LPN collaborates closely with the supervisor to ensure timely and high-quality care delivery.

Essential Functions Assess vital signs and basic nursing needs, prepare patients for evaluation, and assist the provider with developing a comprehensive plan of care.

Perform clinical procedures within LPN scope, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and other delegated patient care tasks.

Prepare exam rooms and clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and full readiness for the next patient.

Maintain clinical equipment and ensure functionality, reporting or resolving equipment issues as needed.

Complete accurate pre-visit and post-visit documentation to support continuity of care and maintain complete medical records.

Manage supply inventory, ensuring exam rooms and clinical work areas remain fully stocked and functional.

Participate in care team huddles to support coordinated, collaborative care for each patient encounter.

Provide patient education and instructions, helping patients understand their care plans, testing, medications, and follow-up requirements.

Support overall clinic operations, assisting staff, providers, residents, and medical students with patient care, clerical needs, and organizational tasks.

Ensure patient safety and experience, following emergency clinical policies, infection-control protocols, and standards for high-quality care.

Licensed Practical Nurse Training Program Florida Practical Nurse License Basic Life Support (BLS) Automated External Debribillator (AED) 6 months experience in a clinical role in a healthcare facility

Additional Information

Completion of two or more additional pre-approved trainings, certifications, or continuing education courses related to clinical practice in assigned area within 6 months of hire Demonstration of additional competencies designated within area of hire, such as pediatric responsibilities, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Care Management, Team Based Care, EPIC proficiencies, etc. or competencies across multiple specialties, experience with Revenue Cycle tasks such as surgery scheduling or front desk duties, experience and/or ability to coordinate schedules and performance management for Clinical Assistant team(s) within 6 months of hire

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Florida Practical Nurse License and BLS/AED certifications. At least 6 months of clinical experience in a healthcare facility is required.
