Axle is seeking a Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) located in Bethesda, MD.

• Position Overview The Biologist provides advanced scientific and technical support to the Laboratory of Cell Structure and Dynamics within the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), Division of Intramural Research.
• The position supports investigations of inner ear cellular biology through the design and execution of laboratory experiments, preparation and analysis of biological specimens, management of transgenic mouse colonies, and collection and interpretation of microscopy data.
• A Master's degree is required, with a preferred field of study in Miscellaneous Biology.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art confocal microscopy systems, computational analysis of microscopy data, transgenic mice and mouse colony management, and sample preparation for confocal microscopy is preferred.
• Certifications & Licenses Master's degree Field of Study Miscellaneous Biology Software Microsoft Office Skills Familiarity with state-of-the-art confocal microscopy systems Experience with computational analysis of microscopy data Experience with transgenic mice and mouse colony management Experience with sample preparation for confocal microscopy Deliverables Data Analysis and Reports: Written summaries of experimental findings, including figures and interpretations, delivered as needed for internal review, publications, and presentations — Ad-Hoc Literature Summaries: Periodic summaries of relevant scientific literature to support experimental design and methodology selection — Ad-Hoc Laboratory Management Records: Up-to-date inventory logs, reagent tracking, and equipment maintenance documentation — Ad-Hoc Progress Updates: Provides updates (oral or written) during lab meetings or as requested by the COR or on-site manager — Ad-Hoc Statement of Work Details Perform sample preparation for studies of rodent inner ear cellular biology — 1 Collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment — 2 Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples — 3 Analyze laboratory findings — 4 Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data — 5 Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures Prepares, organizes and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

Salary Range: $75,000—$83,000 USD
