Perform technical oral hygiene services including prophylaxis and assisting dentists with x-rays and surgery. Maintain sterilized instrumentation and manage patient dental records and oral hygiene programs.
Performs technical and advisory services in oral and/or dental hygiene involving oral prophylaxis in a dental operatory.
Assists dentist in making dental x-rays, administering of sodium fluoride for prevention of tooth decay, in dental surgery and general dentistry.
Maintains, cleans and sterilizes all dental and medical instrumentation by autoclave, steam or cold sterilization.
Maintains all dental records and reports and makes reports according to facility policy utilizing electronic data processing equipment.
Performs educational and organizational work in promoting and monitoring the facility’s patient oral hygiene program.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school, supplemented by completion of two (2) years of college with course work in dental hygiene. Requires Illinois certificate as registered dental hygienist.
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
