The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for performing individualized evaluations and developing care plans to restore communication, language, and swallowing functions. Additionally, the role involves supervising students and volunteers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for patient care.
A Speech/Language Pathologist shall plan, direct and perform Speech/Language Pathology evaluations and care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient. Care plans shall be developed that promote restoration of function, restoration and/or development of language and cognitive skills, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, restoration and/or development of oral skills and swallowing function and interventions that restore communication skills. Responsibilities include the supervision of Speech/Language Pathology students, and volunteers. Speech/Language Pathologists also participate in scheduling of patient treatments, multidisciplinary care planning and patient education, and team support of other areas of service besides their assigned home department.

A Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and certification of clinical competency in SLP are required. Candidates must hold a Texas license (or obtain one within 6 months) and obtain BCLS certification within 3 months of hire.
