About the role

Perform cardiac echocardiogram procedures and provide images and data analysis to Cardiologists for diagnostic interpretation. Coordinate patient care, maintain equipment, and ensure adherence to department protocols and quality standards.

This position performs a variety of cardiac ultrasounds within the scope of practice and Logan Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate of accredited school of Cardiovascular Sonography preferred. Minimum of one (1) of the following required: ARDMS in Adult Echocardiography Registration. Must be board eligible and ARDMS registry must be successfully obtained within six (6) months of hire. Minimum of one (1) year adult echocardiography experience preferred. RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first. Possess comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics required. Possess knowledge and experience in all cardiac echo procedures preferred. To be eligible for the Driver portion of the position: Current Driver’s License required. Driving record for the previous thirty-six (36) months must not reflect any major driving offenses (i.e; DUI, convicted of a felony involving a motor vehicle, suspended license, three (3) or more speeding tickets or other moving violations, etc.). In addition, personal vehicles used for LH business: State law minimum liability coverage limits required. Promotes excellence through setting high standards and providing high quality outcomes. Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties: Accurately and efficiently performs cardiac echocardiogram procedures as outlined by department procedures and exam protocols. Obtains patient history, describes and responds to questions, and informs patient of when to expect results as applicable to assigned area(s). Participates in and coordinates patient care and flow. Provides for physical and psychological needs of patient during examination. Provides images, data analysis and patient comments to the Cardiologist for diagnostic interpretation. Maintains understanding of and follows current exam protocols. Maintains accountability to technologist competency and quality control standards. Assists with maintaining and ordering supply stock as directed. Maintains equipment and coordinates repairs and service as needed or directed. Assists with administrative duties as applicable to assigned area(s). The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position. Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Requirements

Requires ARDMS registration in Adult Echocardiography or board eligibility with certification obtained within six months. Preferred qualifications include a degree in Cardiovascular Sonography and at least one year of adult echocardiography experience.
