Provides direct care and support to patients with psychiatric or behavioral conditions while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include monitoring patient behavior, facilitating therapeutic groups, and collaborating with the treatment team on care plans.
The Mental Health Technician is responsible for performing supportive, trauma informed care to patients/families. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, completion of routine safety checks and constant attendance per order, adherence to patient-specific treatment plans, crisis intervention, assistance with activities of daily living, appropriate documentation, facilitation of therapeutic group and assistance with programming, collaboration with the treatment team and discharge planning. The MHT demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate, trauma informed care and service for pediatric patients and actively participates in self-appraisal for performance improvement.
Education Associates degree in psychology, social worker, or a related field required; Bachelors degree is preferred. CPI or other crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire.
Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting preferred Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired Department Specific Job Details: full time, 36 hours 3 (12) hour shifts days, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM weekend and holiday rotation eligible for benefits and PTO serving the inpatient mental health unit at the Mathile Center
