The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is responsible for performing supportive, trauma-informed care to patients/families. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, completion of routine safety checks and constant attendance on patients as ordered, ensuring patient safety and adherence to treatment plans. The MHT demonstrates strong therapeutic communication skills, accepts delegated tasks, and possesses the knowledge and understanding to ask pertinent questions and report patient information as indicated, including behavioral changes and mental status updates. Appropriately handles sensitive patient information, understanding and upholding of strict confidentiality and privacy guidelines.

The MHT can function as the unit clerk and/or support coordinator, responsible for supporting the team lead in clerical duties and daily operations of the unit. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital and the specific goals of the mental health unit. The MHT promotes a patient and family-centered, trauma-informed environment, and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers—both internal and external—within the mental health setting.
Required Qualifications GED or High school diploma Department Specific Job Details: part time, 24 hours 2 (12) hour shifts days, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM weekend and holiday rotations eligible for benefits and PTO serving the inpatient mental health unit at the Mathile Center
