About the role

The Outreach Specialist conducts engagement activities and presentations across Manhattan to increase program visibility and recruit clients for the Homebase program. They are responsible for screening prospective participants and maintaining productive relationships with referral agencies and landlords.

The Homebase Outreach Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive outreach and engagement activities across the borough of

Manhattan for the S:US Homebase program. This includes presentations, in-person and virtual event participation, distribution of program materials, stakeholder engagement, client recruitment, and a variety of other tasks to support community access to S:US services and Homebase’s supports. The Outreach Specialist aids in the screening, enrollment referral and enrollment functions of the program and supports the service delivery and community engagement efforts of S:US.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct program outreach and community related activities to increase referral base and community visibility. Provide outside presentations to network and further develop referral sources. Promote linkages with other service providers that will help participants obtain and maintain housing stability. Participate in various consortium and community meetings across Manhattan. Conduct initial pre-screening and assessments for prospective program participants. Maintain logs of outreach activities. Complete monthly reports as required. Cultivate, develop and maintain productive relationships with referral agencies. Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, various meetings and outside events as assigned by supervisor. Support engagement efforts with the broader team of landlords and other partners, cultivating new housing resources for Homebase clients within appropriate. Update the resource book for staff. Promote linkage development and monitor the effectiveness of partnerships with other service providers. Cultivate, develop and maintain productive relationships with referral agencies. Actively participate in internal and external training programs and committees Follow-up with households to assess their ongoing employment and housing stability needs. Assist program management in regular participant record reviews. Document all services in compliance with agency standards. Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, case conferences, division meetings and trainings.

Respond to information requests from internal S:US staff. Assist with accreditation reviews, monitoring visits and program audits. Responds to stakeholder needs promptly, accurately and with courtesy and respect. Model appropriate behavior. Represent the agency in a positive and appropriate manner. Complete other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED required. At least two years’ working experience in the human services field or related area Solid knowledge of community resources and services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills Good interpersonal skill set, able to work independently and still function as part of a multi-disciplinary team Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Staff member will be expected to conduct fieldwork and travel in NYC up to five days per week. Ability to travel via public transportation. Ability to lift 25 pounds of outreach flyers and materials is necessary. Ability to commit to occasional work and events outside of business hours.
